The Trip Planner provides easy access to websites which feature the 800+ destinations listed in Lewis and Clark Road Trips. Though we tried to select good website addresses for each destination to include in the book, we didn't list the long addresses to interior pages where the information is often found. It always seemed more practical to put up direct links on our own website. We looked up destination addresses or used latitude and longitude numbers for destinations without addresses (such as markers out in the country) to establish direct links to MapQuest maps. When you click on the map link you will be brought to a map which shows exactly where the destination is located; you may request driving directions, to it or from it, for any location for which you know the address or lat-long.
The Trip Planner is a wonderful way to explore the history and the heritage of the United States circa 1800, and the Native American communities encountered by the expedition. Visit the websites and enjoy some virtual traveling along the Lewis and Clark Trail. From the Smithsonian Museums in the nation's capitol to the smallest chambers of commerce, you will find much to learn and enjoy.
