Lewis & Clark Heritage Days

The annual Heritage Days celebration is one of the great Lewis and Clark events on the trail. It is held every year on the third weekend in May, in Frontier Park along the Missouri River.  The expedition departed from here on their journey to the Pacific Coast on May 21, 2004. 

The Discovery Expedition of St. Charles, the re-enactors who traveled the country during the bicentennial years of 2003-2006, are headquartered here, at the Lewis and Clark Boat House and Nature Center where their keelboat and pirogues are kept.

Saturday

  • 9:30 AM Flag raising Parade Ground
  • 11 AM Parade on Main Street
  • 12 noon Morgan horse demonstration Parade Ground 
  • 1 PM Military Tactical Demonstration Parade Ground
  • 2 PM John Dengler Memorial Parade Ground
  • Fife and Drum Muster
  • 4 PM Artillery/firearms demonstration Artillery Park
  • 5 PM Retreat and Flag lowering Parade Ground

Ongoing activities include period music at the entertainment tent and other locations, story telling, children's games, crafts and foods, camp demonstrations, and the boats on exhibit.

Directions: 

From I-70 take the Fifth St exit in St Charles

Go north on Fifth St to the second stoplight (Boone's Lick Road)

Turn right on Boone's Lick Road.

Cross Main Street and follow Riverside Drive.

Lewis & Clark Trailhead Plaza Dedication

Time: 5:30 PM

The dedication of the new plaza will take place on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 exactly  204 years after the Lewis and Clark Expedition traveled through the area.  The new bronze statue group of the expedition includes Lewis, Clark, York, Seaman and for the first time in bronze--George Drouillard!

Kids' Day, Junior Corps of Discovery

Come join the Junior Corps of Discovery. Participate in rope making, military drill and flag folding. Learn to use a compass and telescope. Earn your Certificate of Enlistment by completing all the activities and be mustered in as a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

McKinley Bridge Bikeway Grand Opening

Time: 10:30 AM

The Confluence Greenway project is celebrating the opening of 57 miles of additional on-street Bike St. Louis route and the opening of the McKinley Bridge Bikeway and Trestle on June 7th at the bridge.
A riverfront trail ride will take place between 10:30-11:30 and the official dedication will be at noon.
Street performances and food vendors from 11-2.
