About Us
“History Comes Alive When You Travel”
Lewis and Clark Road Trips is a publication of River Junction Press LLC, located in Omaha, Nebraska. My husband Henry and I are the owners of River Junction Press. I am an independent historian with a background in film, video and photography. Henry is a professor of physiology at Creighton University Medical School. We enjoy traveling by car; seeing the sights, and learning about the history of local places. We traveled over 8,000 miles on the Lewis and Clark Trail in preparation for this book.
River Junction Press will be continuing to publish books in its Great American Road Trips series. In addition, I am building a website community for Lewis and Clark travelers and history buffs. I encourage you to participate. It will be useful and interesting for us all.
Amazon Associate Book Store
Just as I included over 800 destinations on the Lewis and Clark Trail, I have included over 50 books in our website’s Amazon Associate book store. It was very hard to narrow down the selection to choose only the “Top 50 Lewis and Clark Books” and best books for Young Readers. I had to order some of the young reader books for my library; but other than that, I own all of the Top 50, and hundreds more besides. I chose only books that were available directly through Amazon. Once you have started to explore the richness of the Lewis and Clark book world, you will discover that there are many more to read—including used books, books available through publisher websites, and many more books on Amazon. But the “Top 50” are the keepers, the best of the best, in my opinion. Of course, there is always room for more—how do you think I got so many books?
Website Plans
I will be blogging regularly. The blogs, book store, and historic campsites table are part of “Phase One” for the website. “Phase
Two” will see the discussion forum added and links to our 800 plus destinations. We will provide links both to the destination websites (as found in Lewis and Clark Road Trips)
and also to individual MapQuest maps for each destination. I expect it will all
be functioning in the spring of 2007.
Post a blog comment. Send an e-mail. I’d like to hear from you.
